Avene Rich Compensating Cream, My Moisturizer Choice for Winter

We are a few weeks into Canadian Winter and so far it has been a doozy.  I can deal with the snow, I love snow!  It’s the wind and negative fifteen temperatures that get to me.  The freezing winter wind is a killer for sensitive skin.  My usual go-to Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizer was just not cutting it, so I hit the web to do some extensive online research, aka Googling “best daily moisturizer”.

Note to self: reading reviews for moisturizers or any skin product is useless.  Yes you can use the rating as a general guideline, but everyone has unique skin types and live in different climates therefore it’s about what works for you.  So, if you have combo-skin aka sometimes extremely dry or very oily keep reading!

So I hit up Shopper’s Drug Mart and after spending around 20 minutes testing out different brands I choose Avene.  I have used various Eau Thermale Avene products before, so I knew my skin would react well.  When I tested theAvene Rich Compensating Cream, I was hooked.  This product has a light cream/gel-like consistency that doesn’t absorb too quickly into the skin, no white-cast, pleasant smell and beautiful packaging.

Price

$45 CAD is the price which I was fine with paying. The jar contains 50ml, which a little will go a long way so I expect this to last me all winter and then some. I would say it’s in the mid price range for a face moisturizer.

Packaging

This jar is shapely, I love it. It feels heavy too. Hate sticking your hand in jars or pots and getting the product under your nails? Same. Well do not fret because this moisturizer comes with a little plastic applicator which fits inside the jar when closed! I just scoop a little onto the applicator and swipe it on my cheeks, forehead, nose, chin and then blend it out.
