At Home | Bathroom Bliss

Welcome to my first official home tour blog post!  The bathroom, because it involves the least amount of furniture and decorations – Ha!  Since making the move to Kitchener/Waterloo in November of last year, I have been anticipating blogging about our newly renovated home.

I suppose I’ll start with a little back story on my move and our home.  Jon (my boyfriend for those who don’t know me) purchased the home, a cute 1950’s bungalow in Belmont Village in his early twenties.  It was the party pad while he lived in it during University before renting it out to tenants up until the big reno.  To be honest, I was weary about moving from Etobicoke, leaving my job(s) and friends.  I wasn’t sure if I would like living here, but when Jon suggested he would renovate his house for us to live in and that I’d have an office and a walk-in closet… I was sold!  I mean what girl wouldn’t be?!  Did I mention he also runs his business, a construction/contracting business full-time while doing our house on the side.  I am incredibly lucky to have such a talented, generous, and hard-working boyfriend/dog dad like Jon.

KW is an amazing place to live.  You get the city vibe, sans traffic with the small town feels.  Plus, our dog Dexter has an amazing backyard to run around in all day!

Rug numero three.  We started with a white shaggy bath mat which quickly became our black shedding dog Dexter’s favourite place to sit.  Then we had a black bathmat which also showed too much dirt.  Which finally brings us to a non-bathmat rug from Home Sense and although it may not function the best, it looks good.

It’s been a journey to get the house to where it is now.

With Jon doing 98% of the renovation and me doing most of the furniture hunting and interior designing, we’ve come a long way.

We are so close to being “finished” (quotes because lets be serious, is a house every really finished?).  As each room is completed I will be showcasing it here on the blog, so stay tuned!

  1. WOW! Home goals! KW is a great place to live (not so much as a student but the "real people" neighbourhoods are wonderful). Have you tried the Berlin Bicycle Cafe or the Belmont Bistro? If not, check them out 😀
